Configure smarthost

Foreword

A smarthost is a mail relay service that can be used to send emails via your send connector. In our current version, Plesk offers the option of configuring this service via the user interface. If you are unable to configure the smarthost, update the Plesk Control Panel so that the function is available.

Prerequisites

  • Plesk Control Panel
  • Send connector / SMTP access data

Configure Smarthost

In the Plesk Control Panel, navigate to Tools & Settings and select Smarthost under the Email category.

Plesk Control Panel - Tools & Settings

Configure the smarthost by defining the host name or IP address in the server-wide e-mail settings and then entering port 587 (STARTTLS). For smooth sending, authentication is also required, so that you enter the user name and password here and require the encrypted connection.

If you are using our send connector, you can view the host name and the authentication data in our customer center under Email Protection → Send Connectors and then insert them.

You can then test the connection with the Check connection button and receive a message that the connection to the SMTP server could be established.

If the connection was established successfully, you can save the setting using the Apply button and use the SMTP server for the server's outgoing emails in future.
