DDoS Protection
DDoS attacks are a constant threat. They jeopardize the availability of your infrastructure and can seriously harm your business. Their purpose may be extortion, harming competitors, or even vandalism. Don’t become the next victim of a DDoS attack. Let our automated, highly efficient, and expertly developed DDoS mitigation services protect you.
How DDoS Protection Works
Once an IP address has been activated for DDoS protection, the following settings can be configured:
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Sensor Mode | Detects and initiates DDoS mitigation for traffic only when a DDoS attack is detected. |
| Always On | Traffic is continuously filtered for DDoS attacks. This is useful for IPs that are very sensitive to sudden traffic spikes. However, we recommend using this setting only when necessary. |
| Always Off | No detection or filtering enabled |
For the first two settings, you have the option to disable Layer 7 filtering. By default, this setting is always enabled. In the first two settings, network layers 2, 3, 4, and 7—which are relevant for actual detection—are analyzed.
When using our DDoS protection with Layer 7 filtering, the content of your website is cached by the DDoS filter in the event of an attack on web server ports 80 (HTTP) and 443 (HTTPS).
Sensor Mode
If there is no attack on your IP address, traffic is routed directly to your server, just as in normal operating mode:
Our DDoS Protection features sensors to detect attacks anywhere in the network. If a suspicious pattern is detected, traffic is redirected to a security cloud.
The network sensors immediately detect when an attack occurs and redirect traffic from the affected IP address to the security cloud within seconds:
The redirection stops automatically within minutes after the attack ends.
Always On Mode
When “Always On” mode is enabled, traffic is permanently redirected to the Voxility security cloud.
Always Off Mode
In “Always Off” mode, no analysis or mitigation of network traffic takes place.
Change Settings
Currently, specific DDoS mitigation settings can only be configured through our support team. For managed servers, this setting cannot be changed. If you would like to adjust the settings for your IP addresses, please contact our Support.
