Configure Preferred Domain

Using the “Preferred Domain” setting, you can specify whether Plesk should redirect to the preferred domain. It makes sense to enable this setting if the associated web application cannot perform its own redirect.

Background

When a webpage is accessed, many web applications distinguish between the protocols http:// and https://, as well as whether the domain is accessed via www.. To avoid duplicate content, you should choose one of the four possible variants and, for the other three cases, use the “Preferred Domain” setting to redirect them to the correct domain via a permanent redirect (301).

Configure the Preferred Domain

First, log in to the Plesk Control Panel via our Customer Center and navigate to your shop domain.

Then, in the Hosting and DNS tab, select the Hosting menu item.

Under the Preferred Domain setting, select the option you want. Here: www.creoline-demo.com. After you’ve saved the changes, you can use our free HTTP Redirect Tool to check whether the redirects are working properly.
