JTL-Worker: Unable to log in as a service

Introduction

This article addresses an issue that may occur if you have set up the JTL-Worker as a Windows service and now want to start the service.

Prerequisites

  • JTL-Wawi Server
  • Configured JTL-Worker
  • Your user must have administrator privileges

Error Symptoms

Open “Services” and start the configured “JTL-Worker” service.

The following message will then appear:

Troubleshooting

An incorrect password was entered during service setup, or your user does not have permission to log in as a service.

Incorrect Password

Under “Services,” open the properties of the configured Windows service:

Navigate to the Log On tab and verify that the username and password were entered correctly.

Save the changes by clicking the Apply button.

Restart the service.

Missing Permission

In order to use your user account to start a service that you added with that user, the account requires the Log on as a service permission.

To grant this permission, run gpedit.msc to launch the Group Policy Editor.

Navigate to the Log On as a Service policy via Computer Configuration → Windows Settings → Security Settings → Local Policies → User Rights Assignment, and add the desired user.

Save the change by clicking the Apply button.

Once the Windows user appears in the list of authorized users or user groups, you can start the service.
