VPC Networks
VPC networks can be used to create virtual, isolated networks between creoline servers. A VPC network provides an isolated environment that allows resources to be logically separated from one another. This enables traffic within the VPC to be efficiently managed and controlled.
Managing a VPC network involves configuring subnets, routing tables, firewall rules, and other network components. It requires knowledge of network architecture, IP addressing, security, and connectivity.
VPC networks are permanently free and do not count toward traffic calculations. More information on traffic calculations
Managing VPC Networks
Navigate to the Servers → Networks menu item to view all VPC networks.
Here, you can manage and customize the VPC networks you’ve created.
Create a VPC Network
To create a VPC network, navigate to the Servers → Networks menu item.
Once there, you can create a new VPC network by clicking “Create Network.”
You can create up to 10 VPC networks within an organization.
| Value | Property |
|---|---|
| Name | The name of your choice for your VPC network |
| Project | Assign the VPC network to a project. Projects can be created under Server → Projects |
| Type | The type of network; in this case, a VPC network |
| Network (CIDR) | The desired address space to define the CIDR block for the VPC network (e.g., 10.20.0.2/24) |
| Description | A description of your choice for your VPC network |
Examples of VPC networks:
| Subnet | First Address | Last Address | Usable Addresses |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10.20.0.0/24 | 10.20.0.1 | 10.20.0.254 | 254 |
| 10.20.0.0/23 | 10.20.0.1 | 10.20.1.254 | 510 |
| 10.20.0.0/22 | 10.20.0.1 | 10.20.3.254 | 1.022 |
| 10.20.0.0/21 | 10.20.0.1 | 10.20.7.254 | 2.046 |
| 10.20.0.0/20 | 10.20.0.1 | 10.20.15.254 | 4,094 |
Once you have created the VPC network, you can view and customize it in the “Networks” list.
Removing VPC Networks
You can also quickly remove VPC networks that you have created. To do so, simply navigate to VPC Network → Settings and select “Remove Network” to remove the VPC network.
When you remove a network, it is permanently deleted. Please be careful not to remove the wrong VPC network.
Connect a Network Interface to a VPC Network
To connect a network interface to an existing VPC network, navigate to Server → Your Server → Network and create a new network interface using the Create Network Interface button.
To connect your VPC network to a network interface, select your VPC network under Network.
For Debian- and Ubuntu-based servers, the new network interface is automatically added to and configured on your server. It will be available for use in the Customer Center shortly after creation.
| Value | Property |
|---|---|
| Server | The server on which the network card is created |
| Network | The VPC network to be used |
| IP Address | The IP address of the VPC network to be used |
| Speed | Customizable internet speed—default 1000 MB/s |
| Enable Firewall | When enabled, the firewall rules on this network interface are applied. |
| Enable Interface | Disable this option to temporarily disable the network interface. |
| Description | Enter a description for the network interface |
