Roles
This article assumes that you are logged in to the Customer Center and that the logged-in user has permission to manage roles.
Introduction
This article covers the topic of user roles in creoline. A user role controls access permissions to the various areas of the Customer Center. By assigning different permissions, users in a role can be granted access to specific sections or actions within the Customer Center.
User roles allow you to map your existing organizational hierarchy within the Customer Center.
For example, you can create a role for your accounting staff that includes permissions exclusively for accounting purposes, such as viewing invoices and changing the default payment method.
User roles also offer the option to restrict access to sensitive areas of the Customer Center—such as contract management—by employees of your organization.
Role Management
Before performing any action related to user roles, first click the gear icon next to your organization’s name in the upper-left corner of the Customer Center.
You are now in the Organization Management section. Here, switch to the Roles tab at the top.
In the Roles Management section, you can add new roles or edit existing ones. Using the search field at the top left next to the Add Role button, you can filter the roles that have already been created. This helps you maintain an overview even with a large number of roles and efficiently find the ones you want to edit.
In Role Management, you can perform the following actions:
- Create roles
- Edit roles
- Edit role permissions
- Remove roles
Create a Role
First, navigate to Role Management. Click the Add Role button in the upper-right corner.
You can enter a custom name for your role in the “Role Name” field. You can also add an optional description to help you identify the role later. Then, click the Create Role button to create the new role.
The role you just created is now visible in the Role Management section. Here, you can create additional roles for other employee groups in your company, such as system administrators or Website Manager users.
Edit Role
First, navigate to the Role Management section as described above and click on the role you want to edit.
Then click the pencil icon next to the role’s name in the upper-left corner. A form for changing the role’s name and description will then appear.
Customize the role as desired and save it by clicking the "Save Changes" button. The changes you just made will be applied immediately.
Edit a Role’s Permissions
First, navigate to Role Management as described above and click on the role you want to edit.
In Permissions Management, you’ll find all assignable permissions grouped together. Here, select the permission group for which you want to adjust the permissions.
A form will open displaying all permissions for the selected group. Here, you can customize the permissions in detail. To do so, select or deselect individual entries to limit or expand the permissions for the role.
Then click “Save Changes”; the changes will be applied immediately. Customize additional permission groups according to your preferences and needs.
Remove a Role
Removing a role is permanent and cannot be undone.
First, navigate to the Role Management section as described above and click on the role you want to edit.
Click the Settings button in the upper-right corner.
Clicking the Remove Role button will completely remove the role.
