Transfer domain from another provider to creoline

This help center article shows you how to transfer existing domains from another provider to creoline.

Requirements

  • AuthCode

Please note that there are different additional requirements for the different TLDs, which must first be fulfilled in your organization. However, the shopping cart will point this out in detail before the transfer order is completed. You can find further information in our TLD wiki: TLD-Wiki

Differentiation of domain administration and DNS zone administration

If you want to transfer a domain to us, you only have the following options:

  • Domain administration in our Customer Center
  • Domain and DNS zone management in our Customer Center

Domain administration

It is important to understand that domain administration is exclusively the administration of the rightful owner and domain contacts, the configuration of name servers, the activation of DNSSEC and the administration of the entire domain portfolio.

DNS zone management

Zone administration is, in turn, the part that takes place on the DNS servers (name servers). Accordingly, only the DNS entries are created, edited or removed here.

To understand this, a domain can be registered with us (domain management) and Cloudflare's name servers can be configured for it (DNS zone management). In this case, the DNS records are managed in the Cloudflare portal.

If you are unsure about domains and DNS zones, we recommend that you manage your domains and DNS zones via our Customer Center.

Create DNS template

If it is an active domain with existing DNS records, a static DNS template should be created beforehand, which covers all current DNS records. This can be selected later when completing the order for the domain so that the DNS records can be propagated directly in the DNS zone managed by our name servers.

If you do not create a static DNS template and have not prepared any DNS entries, the transfer will be carried out without a prepared DNS zone and placeholder DNS entries will be set here, which is why subsequent adjustment may be necessary. See also: DNS entries

Transfer domain

To transfer a domain to creoline, you need to navigate to DomainsRegister on the left-hand side. You can then search for your desired domain and, if the domain is already registered, initiate the transfer using the "Transfer " button.

If further domains are to be registered or transferred, you can return to the domain search via the "Continue shopping" button. If you have already added all domains to your shopping cart, you can continue with the "Checkout" button to configure the domains.

Configure product (domain)

In the shopping cart you will receive an overview of the domains you have added for transfer, including a list of the product configurations that still need to be made. In all cases, a valid AuthCode is required for the domain transfer, which you will receive from your current domain provider.

Domain contacts

You can now select the corresponding domain contact in the configuration view. If you have not yet booked any domains with us, this usually has to be created first. See also: Create domain contacts

Additional information

The AuthCode that you receive from your old provider must then be entered under additional information.

Nameserver and DNS zone

In this section, you have the option of selecting the name servers via which your DNS zone is to be propagated. You can also select a previously created DNS template.

If you are transferring an actively used domain with existing DNS records to us and also want to manage the DNS zone via our Customer Center, please create a static DNS template (if you have not already done so) and select the creoline nameservers and the DNS template. See also: DNS templates

Finally, you can save the configuration and complete the order process via the "Checkout" button after selecting the desired payment method.
