S/MIME Installation in Microsoft Outlook

Introduction

Installing an S/MIME certificate in Microsoft Outlook provides you with a secure and trustworthy method for encrypting and signing your emails. By using this certificate, you not only enhance the security of your communications but also actively protect your personal and business information from unauthorized access.

Prerequisites

• S/MIME certificate (can be purchased through our Customer Center)
• Microsoft Outlook

Exporting the S/MIME Certificate as a PFX File

To install the certificate in Microsoft Outlook, you’ll need the S/MIME certificate as a .pfx file. You can export the certificate directly as a .pfx file from our Customer Center.

To do this, navigate to Certificate Management and select the desired S/MIME certificate (email certificate). Under Settings, you can export the certificate as a PFX file.

Next, choose a password for the .pfx file; your email client will prompt you for this password later when importing the file.

Installing the S/MIME Certificate in Microsoft Outlook

After exporting the certificate as a .pfx file, you can set up the S/MIME certificate in Microsoft Outlook by following these steps.

To do this, click the File button in the upper-left corner of Outlook to display the menu.

Then select Microsoft Office Options.

Next, click the Trust Center button, and then select Trust Center Settings in the window that appears.

Open the Email Security tab and access the certificate management section by clicking the Import/Export button.

In the window that appears, you can import the PFX file previously exported from the Customer Center into Microsoft Outlook by clicking the Browse button and selecting the appropriate PFX file.

Confirm the import of the S/MIME certificate by clicking the OK button.

Finally, configure the desired settings below to complete the setup of your certificate, and confirm the new settings by clicking the OK button.

Your emails will now be automatically digitally signed, but they will not be automatically encrypted.
